Matild Palace, the celebrated icon of the Belle Époque era, is a vision of Her Imperial and Royal Highness Maria Klotild of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, Archduchess of Austria, was completed in 1902 to become the social epicenter of the city. Today, the hotel is listed as a UNESCO world heritage site and is under monumental protection.
